Larson averages 156, misses cut

Local bowler Bubba Larson was unable to climb high enough in the standings Wednesday to qualify for the advancers round of the 2013 Junior Gold North Pointe Championship tournament in Detroit.

Larson, 14, came into the third day of qualifying ranked 227th out of 315 bowlers, but after a five-game total of 723 in Wednesday's final qualifying round, he fell to 253rd in the final qualifying standings. The top 45 bowlers in the qualifying round, including ties, qualified for the advancers round of the competition.

Larson posted scores of 137-125-166-163-132 on Wednesday for a five-game total score of 723.

On Monday, he bowled games of 112-190-122-177-197 for a total score of 798, then on Tuesday he added games of 146-144-142-204-185 for a total score of 821. His total score over three days and 15 games was 2,342, with an average score of 156.
