LIBERAL — Jimmie E. Nicholas, 84, died Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at Southwest Medical Center, Liberal.

LIBERAL — Jimmie E. Nicholas, 84, died Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at Southwest Medical Center, Liberal.

He was born July 2, 1929, in Stafford County in the Antrim Community, to D.W. and Nellie E. Lofti Nicholas.

He graduated from Antrim High School. He was a Switchman for the Rock Island Railroad for 27 years before retiring in 1992.

He married Mary Clarice Kelly on March 30, 1965, in Perryton, Texas. She preceded him in death.

Also preceding him in death were his parents; a stillborn son; a daughter, Jobeth Terkillsen, and an infant brother.

Survivors include long-time companion Nadine Cantrell, Liberal; a brother Robert A. Nicholas of Wichita; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Funeral service is 2 p.m. Friday at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel, Liberal. Burial follows at Tyrone Cemetery, Tyrone, Okla.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Research or the donor's choice, in care of Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd, Liberal.
