Janice Kay Alvarado, 61, Rolla, died July 8, 2014, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

Janice Kay Alvarado, 61, Rolla, died July 8, 2014, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

She was born Sept. 5, 1952, in Elkhart to Lyndell and Margie Louise Henderson Vail.

Alvarado attended cosmetology school in Hays after graduating from Rolla High School in 1970. She owned a beauty shop in Elkhart.

Survivors include four sons, Quintin Marc Parish and Ali Essman of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Chris and Tony Parish of Oklahoma City, Okla.; daughters, Shauna Rodriguez of Elkhart and Jessica Dawn Gonzalez of Rolla; two brothers, Darrell Vail of Johnson City and Howard Vail of Las Vegas, Nev.; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Alvarado was preceded in death by her parents; a son, William "Bart" Barton Parish; and a granddaughter, Emily Parish.

Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Richfield. Interment follows at the Richfield Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart.

The family requests memorials be given to Rolla High School in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
