Miguel Barbosa, 90, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at Homestead Assisted Living and Rehabilitation Center in Garden City.

Miguel Barbosa, 90, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at Homestead Assisted Living and Rehabilitation Center in Garden City.

He was born May 8, 1923, to Secundino Barbosa and María Del Refugio Martinez Barbosa at Rangel, Jalisco, Mexico.

In 1953, he was married to Maria Del Socorro Martin in Jalisco. She died in 1961. In 1964, he was married to Maria Del Refugio Viscencio in Jalisco. Mr. Barbosa lived in Garden City and southwest Kansas since 1979. Most recently, he worked at Brookover Feedyard.

Survivors include his wife, of Garden City; his children, Bernardo Barbosa of Guymon, Okla., Miguel Angel Barbosa of Fairburn, Ga., Gerardo Barbosa of Palemetto, Ga., Luz Maria Barbosa of Jalisco, Martina Guevara of Garden City, Maria Rita Martinez of Ark City, Carmen Julia Barbosa of Jalisco, Juan Jose Barbosa of Jalisco; 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two infant sons. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. today at St. Mary Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church.

Burial will take place at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

Calling hours will be noon to 5 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the Miguel M. Barbosa Memorial Fund, in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N. Seventh St., Garden City, KS 67846.
