ULYSSES — Lazaro Aguirre E., 77, of Ulysses, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

ULYSSES — Lazaro Aguirre E., 77, of Ulysses, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

He was born Dec. 17, 1935, in Julimes County, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Aniseto and Dolores Esparza Aguirre.

He married Socorro Meza on Oct. 28, 1959, in Mexico. They moved to Ulysses four months ago. He was a farmer.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Carlos Aguirre and Lazaro Aguirre, Jr., both of Woodward, Okla.; three daughters, Rita Alvarado of Ulysses, Patricia Rojas of Woodward, Okla., and Marla Chaparro of Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters, Otilia Ochoa of Chihuahua, Mexico, and Santos Aguirre E. of Arizona; 19 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Juana Aguirre; a sister, Catalina Carrasco; and a brother, Juan Jose Aguirre E.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.

A rosary and vigil service is at 7 p.m. today at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses.

Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Interment will follow at Ulysses Cemetery.
