MOSCOW — Charles Eugene Ratledge, 78, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.

MOSCOW — Charles Eugene Ratledge, 78, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.

He was born Feb. 9, 1935, in Timken, to Charles Crawford and Beatice Grace Hoover Ratledge.

On May 3, 1981, he married JoAnn Tilford Slemp in Guymon, Okla.

Mr. Ratledge had been a resident of Moscow since 1999.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Diona Hixon of Decatur, Ark.; three stepsons, Keith Slemp of Moscow, Roy Slemp of Anchorage, and Kevin Slemp; two brothers, Jim and Birney Ratledge; three sisters, Thelma Blair, Wilma Grace Lindsey and Donna Slaughter; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Charles Foster Ratledge; three grandchildren; a brother, Dale Ratledge; and three sisters, Margaret Smith, Velma Smith and Wanda Smith.

Funeral will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Moscow. Burial will be at Moscow Cemetery.

Visitation hours are 5 to 8 p.m. today at the United Methodist Church, Moscow. Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church, in care of Paul's Funeral Home, Box 236, Hugoton, KS 67951.
