LAKIN — Carol Marie Martin, 77, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at the High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin.

LAKIN — Carol Marie Martin, 77, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at the High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin.

She was born June 25, 1936, in Montezuma, to Edgar Royal and Norma Marie Finfrock Hornbaker.

She was the 1954 salutorian at the School for the Deaf in Olathe. A resident of Lakin since 2010, moving from Wichita, she had worked for the United States Postal Service.

On March 17, 1963, she married Ralph Omar Martin in Garden City. He died May 1, 1992, in Garden City.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Marjorie Hornbaker of Tribune; and a nephew, James Eric Morrison of Canola Park, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Dean Hornbaker; and a niece, Karen Hornbaker Morrison.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City. Burial will be at the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City.

Memorials may be given to the School for the Deaf of Olathe, in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City.
