Coleen Ruth Kinney, 82, a former Garden City resident, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at her home in Blue Rapids.

Coleen Ruth Kinney, 82, a former Garden City resident, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at her home in Blue Rapids.

She was born Jan. 17, 1931, in Enid, Okla., to Laurence C. and Helen Ward. She graduated from Kirksville High School in Missouri.

In 1952, she married Frank W. Kinney.

Mrs. Kinney retired in 1993 from the University of Oklahoma, where she held the position of manager of academic personnel and budget records in the provost office.

Survivors include three daughters, Jan Bergkamp of Blue Rapids, Kris Gant of Fort Scott, and Susan Kidd of Edmond, Okla.; a son, Frank Kinney of Prosper, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Larry Ward of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Laurence C. Ward Jr.; and a sister, Sue Pinegar.

Funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Brown Cummings Funeral Home in Enid, Okla., with burial to follow at Waukomis Cemetery.
