Ravona "Rae" Tweedy, 82, of Dodge City, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City.

Ravona "Rae" Tweedy, 82, of Dodge City, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City.

She was born July 13, 1931, in Agra, to Elvin and Eula Barnes King. She was a graduate of Agra High School.

A Dodge City resident since 1956, Mrs. Tweedy began working for JC Penney in 1969 and retired in 1995 as the office manager.

On Dec. 8, 1950, she married Darrell Tweedy in Phillipsburg. He died July 29, 2013.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Hare of Lubbock, Texas; two sons, Mark Tweedy of Garden City, and Steve Tweedy of Dodge City; a sister, Evlyn Johnson of Russell; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Melvin King.

A memorial service for Ravona and Darrell will begin at 2 p.m. Aug. 9 at Church of Christ, Dodge City. Their inurnment will be at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Fort Dodge, with military honors conducted.

There will be no public viewing. Cremation has taken place. Friends may sign their register book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Condolences may be sent at www.zieglerfuneralchapel.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Carpenter Place of Wichita or Church of Christ Youth Ministry, both in care of the funeral chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, KS 67801.
