Garland Gene Cook, 72, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

Garland Gene Cook, 72, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

He was born Sept. 25, 1940, in Hot Springs, Ark., to Eugene and Kay Williams Cook.

On Aug. 15, 1971, he married Colleen R. Metzen in Wichita.

A Garden City resident since 1972, Mr. Cook was a longtime employee of Triple S Steel.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Kathy Hull of Wichita; two sons, Darrin and Billy Cook, both of Garden City; and four grandchildren.

Viewing hours are noon to 8 p.m. Saturday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. Condolences may be emailed to garnandfh@sbcglobal.net. Memorials to the Garland Gene Cook Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home, 412 N. Seventh St., Garden City, KS 67846.
