JOHNSON — Charles W. Lucas, 89, of Johnson, died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Stanton County Long Term Care Unit in Johnson.

JOHNSON — Charles W. Lucas, 89, of Johnson, died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Stanton County Long Term Care Unit in Johnson.

He was born Jan. 16, 1925, in Belpre, to Carl and Estella McKinney Lucas. He graduated from Johnson High School.

Mr. Lucas farmed in Stanton County and was a Pioneer Seed dealer.

On May 13, 1946, he married Myrna Close in Bethany, Okla. She survives. Other survivors include his sons, Cameron Lucas of Kooskia, Idaho, and Loren Lucas of Johnson; his daughters, Kathy Patredis of Bethany, and Cynthia Prowell of Lenexa; a sister, Mary Jane Riggs of Oklahoma City; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel Church of the Nazarene in Johnson. Burial will follow at Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson.

Visitation hours are 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson. Memorials are suggested to Bethel Church of the Nazarene or Stanton County Hospital, both in care of the funeral home, Box 715, Johnson, KS 67855.
