Juanita Jo Wells

Juanita Jo Wells, 57, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at Kindred Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz., after an illness.

She was born Sept. 25, 1956, in Hoisington, Kan., the daughter of Ervin and Lela May Urban. Nita attended school in Leoti.

On Aug. 4, 1973, in Leoti, Kan., she married Craig Wells. They divorced in 2003. She worked various places in Scott City, Hays, Holcomb, Garden City, Memphis, Tenn., and Phoenix. After surviving breast cancer she moved to Phoenix in 2005. There she donated her time to fostering dogs. Her daughters and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She made many friends along the way and never knew a stranger.

Survivors include her father, Ervin Urban of Garden City; two daughters, Rayna and Randy Novack of Garden City, and Carrie and Lateef Dowdell of Chandler, Ariz.; a sister, Cheryl and Tony Moore of Larned, Kan.; a brother, Dale and Nancy Urban of Garden City; and three grandchildren, Breanna, Britnie and Bryson, all of Garden City. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lela May Urban.

A memorial service will be held at Garden Valley Church, 1701 N. Third, at 2 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2014.
