DIGHTON — Lila Ann Selfridge, 82, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at Lane County Hospital in Dighton.

DIGHTON — Lila Ann Selfridge, 82, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at Lane County Hospital in Dighton.

She was born June 14, 1931, in Las Animas, Colo., to Quaine Sell Word and Doris Louise Palmer Dyer. She grew up in several places in eastern Colorado and western Kansas while her father worked for the railroad. In 1947 they settled in Dighton and she graduated from Dighton High School in 1949.

On May 27, 1949, she married Gilbert Lee Selfridge in Dighton. He died Dec. 3, 1987. She also was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John Dyer.

A lifelong farm wife and homemaker, Mrs. Selfridge enjoyed oil painting, genealogy, reading, scrapbooking and doing crossword puzzles.

Survivors include three daughters, Susan Daniels of Leavenworth, Shelley Selfridge of Dighton, and Jill Obrock of Kingman; three sons, Paul Selfridge of Sunnyside, Wash., Kent Selfridge of Lacrosse, and Brian Selfridge of Dighton; two brothers, Patrick Dyer of Littleton, Colo., and Michael Dyer of Kinsley; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Dighton. Burial will be at Dighton Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation hours are 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Boomhower Funeral Home, Dighton. Condolences may be emailed to garnandfh@sbcglobal.net. Memorials are suggested to Lane County Hospital or the United Methodist Church, both in care of the funeral home, Box 891, Dighton, KS 67839.
