Rosa Rovenna Peters, 89, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City.
She was born March 5, 1924, in Leoti, to Allie Kellogg and Ava Bell Henry Childs.
A resident of Garden City since 1945, Mrs. Peters was a homemaker. She was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church and belonged to the RSVP and the Pickin & Playin group at the Senior Center of Finney County, both at Garden City.
On Sept. 30, 1945, she married Boniface A. "B.A." Peters in Tribune. He died June 3, 1979, in Garden City.
Survivors include a daughter, Katherine Butler of Garden City; two sons, Robb Peters of Wichita, and Lawrence and Sue Peters of Wichita; nine grandchildren, Kathie and Rodney Base of Holcomb, Sammy and Terri Matthews Jr. of Garden City, Eddy and Christy Butler of Wichita, Kristina R. Butler of Garden City, Michael Peters of Wichita, Michelle and Chris Matson of Wichita, Vonda Hatcher of Garden City, Shirley and Johnny Milhallond of Garden City, and Michael Hatcher of Garden City; and 16 great-grandchildren, Kimberly White, Candice Rowland, Kelby Hauschild, Erik, Dustin and Kenyon Base, Justin Soukup, Zachary, Zoerina and Jeanette Corpus, Chad and Nickolas Butler, William and Victoria Poyner, Shadow Butler and Travis Kessler.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a stepdaughter, Mary Anne Nelson; four brothers, Bill, Walton, Floyd and Cecil Childs; and two sisters, Hattie Minnick and Lorene Harvey.
Graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Garden City.
