TRIBUNE — Ronald Irvin "Ron" Thon, 89, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at Greeley County Health Center in Tribune.

TRIBUNE — Ronald Irvin "Ron" Thon, 89, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at Greeley County Health Center in Tribune.

He was born Aug. 22, 1924, in Tribune, to Charles Hugo and Mary Elizabeth Swilley Thon.

A lifetime resident of Greeley County, Mr. Thon began operation of Ron's Oil Company in 1963, semi-retiring in 1992.

On Aug. 17, 1947, he married Doris Marie McCray in Tribune. She died Oct. 21, 2004, in Tribune. He also was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rodger Thon; four sisters, Neva Terrill, Helen Martin, Beulah Peterson and Hazel Hoffman; two brothers, Lester and Wayne Thon; and a great-granddaughter.

Survivors include three children, Kenneth Thon of Basin, Wyo., and Michael Thon and Rhonda Moritz, both of Tribune; two sisters, Oleta Bergquist of Tribune, and Letha Wishon of Scott City; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. MST Friday at First Baptist Church in Tribune. Burial will be at Greeley County Cemetery in Tribune.

Visitation hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Tribune. Condolences may be sent at www.priceandsons.com. Memorials are suggested to the Greeley County Boy Scouts/Cub Scouts, in care of the funeral home.
