ELKHART — Billy Max O'Hair, 82, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Morton County Care Center in Elkhart.

ELKHART — Billy Max O'Hair, 82, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Morton County Care Center in Elkhart.

He was born May 25, 1931, in Shattuck, Okla., to William Henderson and Olive Catherine Druce O'Hair.

A longtime Elkhart resident, Mr. O'Hair was an educator and coach.

On June 25, 1955, he married Helen Farmer in Great Bend. She survives. Other survivors include three sons, Kevin of Amarillo, Texas, Gary of Andale, and Thane of Elkhart; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Scotty of Ponca City, Okla., and Richard of Yukon, Okla. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Tommy; and his stepmother, Barbara Davis.

Funeral will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Elkhart. Burial will follow at Elkhart Cemetery.

Visitation hours are 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to First National Bank of Elkhart, Box 1000, Elkhart, KS 67950. A memorial has been set up in Bill O'Hair's name to provide a scholarship for an Elkhart student.
