HOLCOMB — Richard Joe Owens, 61, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

HOLCOMB — Richard Joe Owens, 61, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

He was born Nov. 22, 1951, in Prichard, Okla., to Charlie Richard and Deloris Cox Owens.

On Feb. 14, 1970, he married Debbie Morgan in Garden City. On Jan. 20, 2001, he married Donna Behm in Garden City.

A former resident of Lakin, Mr. Owens drove a truck for many companies over the years, the last being for Eves Trucking.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, Keith and Jeff Owens, both of Lakin, and Ryan Owens of Holcomb; three sisters, Carol Schulz of Lakin, Tammie Craig of Pueblo West, Colo., and Debbie Horwat of Fountain, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside service will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Richfield Cemetery in Richfield.

There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com. Memorials to the Richard Owens Memorial Fund may be sent in care of Swaim Funeral Chapel of Sublette, Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877.
