Zoo hours, entry changes for festival

8/23/2013

Lee Richardson Zoo will be open to pedestrians only (no vehicle traffic) Saturday and Sunday because of the Tumbleweed Festival. The music and arts festival will take place on the west side of the zoo lawns. Zoo visitors will be able to view all animal exhibits from outside the festival area with the exception of the bison and elk exhibit, as the road and sidewalk there will be closed to accommodate festival needs.

The west green of the zoo will remain open until 9:30 tonight and Saturday for festival attendees, but zoo staff will maintain normal hours and observe the regular 6:30 p.m. closing procedures.

Pedestrians are admitted to the zoo free; there is a separate admission fee to the festival. Entrances to the festival are located at the southwest corner of the zoo off of Main Street and inside the northwest corner of the zoo near the camel exhibit, accessible via the Fifth Street exit gate.
