"Brush Strokes On My Canvas" is the title of a 7 p.m. lecture

scheduled to be given by Garden City resident Duane West on Friday at

the Bowlus Fine Arts Center in Iola.

The 81-year-old West is well-known for being the chief prosecutor of

the Clutter murder case made famous by Truman Capote's book, "In Cold

Blood." West will speak about the case and other activities in which he

has been involved over his long legal career and civic life in Garden

City and southwest Kansas.

In January, West was selected as "One of 50 Kansans You Should know"

by Ingram's Kansas City Metro Business magazine. He is also the

author/composer of a two act musical, Dream Your Dreams: The Buffalo

Jones Story. The show tells of the man who saved the buffalo from

extinction and premiered at Garden City Community College in July 2011.

West and his wife, Orvileta, also will be making a 6 p.m.

presentation to open an exhibition of the Unique Cardboard Art of Jessie

Montes, which will be running at the Bowlus through Oct. 18. The Wests

have been agents for Montes since 1998.
