The mixed media creations of Armando Minjarez will go on display

during a public reception from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday in Mercer Gallery at

Garden City Community College.

The display will continue through Oct. 1, with public viewing hours

of 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.

The gallery is located in the west wing of GCCC's Pauline Joyce Fine Arts Building. Admission is free.

Minjarez is a painter and sculptor who graduated with an associate's degree from GCCC in 2007.

A native of Ulysses, he is an artist and social activist in Wichita.

He will speak at 11 a.m. Friday and then will demonstrate his techniques from 1 to 3 p.m. in the GCCC art lab.
