Historical Society picnic set for Oct. 6


The Finney County Historical Society Fall Picnic will begin at 1 p.m.

The Finney County Historical Society Fall Picnic will begin at 1 p.m.

Oct. 6 in the Grandstand Meeting Room at the Finney County Fairgrounds.

FCHS members and others are welcome to attend and bring side dishes

of their choice. Fried chicken, drinks and table service will be

provided. The picnic will include a donation drawing for prizes and a

presentation by Johnetta Hebrlee, Finney County Historical Museum

education coordinator.

Reservations must be made with the museum by Wednesday by calling 272-3664.

Hebrlee's presentation, "Somewhere in Time — The Sugar Beet

Factory," will focus on the Garden City Sugar Co. plant, which operated

from 1906 to 1955.

The random drawing will include 14 prizes donated by Finney County

businesses, organizations and individuals, including $100 in cash,

artwork, meals, newspaper subscriptions, garden items, Lee Richardson

Zoo Safari Cycle rental and more.
