Public invited to Read-In

Garden City Community College's Student Government Association and English Department are sponsoring the sixth annual African American Read-In from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday in the Beth Tedrow Student Center portico.

Volunteers from across campus and within the community will take turns reading aloud prose and poetry selections by African American writers. Books are provided, but those attending are encouraged to bring selections of their own to read.

The local observance of national Black History Month is annually dedicated to the memory of Kevin Wilson, a GCCC student from Valdosta, Ga., who died unexpectedly from a seizure in his residence hall room in 2008.

No reservations or registrations are required for this free event. Call 276-0355 for more information.
