County Commission to canvass vote Monday

The Finney County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at the county administrative center to canvass the votes cast during the March 4 special election, and to hear an update on the Exhibition Building project.

Kennel Club hosts dog show

The Garden City Kansas Kennel Club is hosting its 24th sanctioned American Kennel Club Dog Show.

The agility and obedience trials began Friday and will end Sunday. Today's performances are 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Finney County Fairgrounds. Dogs from throughout the United States will be in attendance. The organization's purpose is to promote the purebred dog for dog owners and breeders. Admission is free to the public. Concessions are available at Horse Palace and the 4-H Building.

Robotics workshop planned

The Garden City High School Buff Robotics Club will facilitate a three Robotics Workshop on Friday centered on engaging elementary school students in science through problem solving and engineering.

The Buff Robotics Club members will present a task-based scenario to the younger students and ask them to design a robot to accomplish the task most efficiently. The students also will present a demonstration of the newly acquired NAO Humanoid Robot.

The workshops will take place at Georgia Matthews Elementary School from 8:30 to 9 a.m.; Victor Ornelas Elementary School from 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. and Abe Hubert Elementary School from 10 to 10:30 a.m.
