Growing a healthy yard, community

The "Kansas Healthy Yards and Communities" program is open to anyone with an interest in growing environmentally friendly yards. The free program begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Grandstands Meeting Room on the fairgrounds in Garden City.

The "Kansas Healthy Yards and Communities" program is open to anyone with an interest in growing environmentally friendly yards. The free program begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Grandstands Meeting Room on the fairgrounds in Garden City.

David Coltrain, Finney County Extension agent, will present the program, which includes: "Build and Maintain a Healthy Lawn," "Right Plant, Right Place," "Water Wise," "Mulch, Grasscycle and Compost," "Fertilizing," "Managing Yard Pests," "Pollution/Water Quality" and "Songbirds and Butterflies."
