Honor Flight fundraiser planned Saturday

Honor Flight fundraiser planned Saturday

An Honor Flight fundraiser is taking place 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the Finney County Exhibition Building.

Chili, vegetables, dessert and a drink will be provided for a $5 donation. There also will be a silent auction and bake sale, and free-will offering.

All proceeds go toward sending Kansas U.S. veterans to Washington, D.C., to see war monuments. All donations are tax deductible.

The fundraiser is sponsored by Finney County 4-H Clubs.

Library offers Second Friday film series

This week's selection in the Second Friday Films series shown at the Finney County Public Library, 605 E. Walnut St., is "Strictly Ballroom."

The 1992 comedy/romance focuses on a maverick ballroom dancer who risks his career by performing an unusual routine and sets out to succeed with a new partner.

The free films are 7 p.m. the second Friday of each month. Refreshments are available.

Participants should check the ratings. Some films won't be appropriate for young children.

Chuckwagon supper Monday night

A chuckwagon supper featuring barbecue beef, beans, applesauce, biscuits and spice cake will be served from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Eagles Lodge, U.S. Highway 83 and Mary Street. The event, which is open to the public, includes western music featuring the "Wright Bros."

Musical programs at Homestead

Two musical programs are scheduled next week at Homestead Assisted Living, 2414 N. Henderson St.

"Roadrunners" will perform at 7 p.m. Tuesday and "Classic 3 (Piano Man)" will perform at 7 p.m. Friday.

The public is encouraged to attend at no charge.
