The series of resurfacing projects on highways in and around Garden City moves to U.S. Highway 50 on Monday with a mill and overlay project from the intersection of U.S. 50 Business (Fulton Street) and Campus Drive, east to the intersection of U.S. 50 and Towns Road, a distance of about three miles.

Drivers should expect single-lane closures on this four-lane road, and traffic will be carried through construction. The Kansas Department of Transportation urges drivers to be alert, pay attention to all work zone warning signs, slow down when approaching a work zone and be prepared to stop.

KDOT expects the project to be completed by late September, depending on weather. APAC Kansas Inc., Shears Division is the primary contractor on the $1.1 million project.
