GCHS holds financial aid night Monday

Garden City High School will hold a Financial Aid Night at 7 p.m. Monday in the Garden City High School Commons Area, 2720 Buffalo Way Blvd. The meeting will provide information to students and parents about federal financial aid for college or vocational-technical school.

A financial aid representative from Garden City Community College will be available to explain the procedure in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is the basis for nearly all university and college financial assistance, including Pell grants, Stafford loans and many others.

The representative also will help answer other questions about financial aid.

Driver's Ed sign-up starts Monday

Enrollment for Garden City High School Drivers' Education course will be from 7:30 to 8 a.m. Monday through Jan. 23 in Room F108 in the Freshman Academy on the Garden City High School campus, 2720 Buffalo Way Blvd. The course is offered to Garden City High School students.

The first session for morning and afternoon classes will be held Jan. 27. The classes will allow students to complete the book part of the course; the driving portion will be done during the summer.

The fee for the class is $200. Class size is limited to the first 30 students who enroll in the class. For more information, contact Eric Victor 276-6654.

GCCC spring semester enrollment resumes

Spring semester enrollment has resumed at Garden City Community College, and the campus is now open. Classes began Wednesday for GCCC's 94th spring term.

Hours for registration assistance will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, at the Student and Community Services Center.

Enrollment information will be available from the GCCC Admissions Department at 276-9608 or the main switchboard, 276-7611, which provides access to any extension.

Admissions, business, counseling, financial aid, records offices and the bookstore, all located at the Student and Community Services Center, will stay open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. through today to provide late enrollment and other semester start-up services.

The bookstore will continue the extended hours Monday and Tuesday.

State Rep. Doll refiles for House District 123

State Rep. John Doll, R - Garden City, filed with the Kansas Secretary of State's office this week to run for re-election in House District 123. Doll was elected in 2012 to a two-year term. The 123rd House District includes most of Garden City.
