The thunderstorm system that rolled over Garden City Tuesday night left only residual effects on the city, but residents are again being cautioned about more severe weather, expected overnight.

The thunderstorm system that rolled over Garden City Tuesday night left only residual effects on the city, but residents are again being cautioned about more severe weather, expected overnight.

A chance for severe storms was predicted after 8 p.m. Wednesday, with hail the size of golf balls escorted by wind gusts of 60 mph. There was a higher chance for severe storms with hail up to the size of tennis balls after midnight, as well as 70 mph wind gusts. 

According to the National Weather Service, a Hazardous Weather Outlook has been issued for Finney and the following other counties: Trego; Ellis; Scott; Lane; Ness; Rush; Hamilton; Kearny; Hodgeman; Pawnee; Stafford; Stanton; Grant; Haskell; Gray; Ford; Edwards; Kiowa; Pratt; Morton; Stevens; Seward; Meade; Clark; Comanche; and Barber.

Michael Paz-Torres, emergency management coordinator with the Finney County Emergency Management said his department did not receive reports of any damages or injuries from Tuesday's storms, but he urged residents to pay attention to weather reports, turn on weather radio and follow their Facebook page for updates.

Residents were also advised to seek shelter if they do not have a basement or other appropriate space to wait out the storms.
