Man dead after being hit by car

A pedestrian died Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle on Fourth Street near St. Catherine Hospital.

According to Garden City police Capt. Michael Reagle, at about 7 a.m. Tuesday, a pickup was traveling south on Fourth Street when it struck a man who was crossing the street between Walnut and Spruce streets, adjacent to St. Catherine Hospital.

The man, who as of Tuesday night was not being identified by police, was taken to St. Catherine Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police also were not releasing the name of the driver on Tuesday night. Reagle said the investigation is ongoing.
