The Garden City commissioners will talk about their 2014-2015 goals when they meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the City Administrative Center, 301 N. Eighth St.

Each year, the commission creates a general set of goals for the next 18 months to prepare for the next budget. The categories for 2014-15 goals include improving existing public facilities and spaces; continuing to develop residential, commercial and industrial sectors; considering new public facilities; maintaining a vibrant central business district; addressing key administrative and policy issues; and attending to transportation needs.

Other items on Tuesday's agenda include: an update on Finney County Convention and Visitors Bureau activities with Kim Inderlied, CVB executive director; recognition of zoo director Kathy Sexson's 30 years of service; an ordinance amending zoning regulations to allow detached mother-in-law houses/guest houses in R-3 districts — those uses are allowed in R-1 and R-2 districts; an ordinance amending fence regulations related to building permit and inspection fee schedules; a request for a partial vacation of Santa Fe street next to property in the 100 block of South 13th Street; consideration and approval of bids for a restroom remodel project at Garden City Regional Airport; discussion of projects authorized in this year's budget or proposed in the capital improvements program that require debt financing; and a request from the Kansas Municipal Energy Agency for Garden City to appoint representatives to serve on its board of directors.
