Tornado warning issued for Finney, Kearny counties

A tornado warning has been issued for west central Finney County and east central Kearny County in Southwest Kansas, according to the National Weather Service.

A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Lakin at 6:44 p.m. central time and is moving northeast at 25 mph. The storm could bring hail close to the size of ping pong balls. Dangerous storms are also set to hit Deerfield and Holcomb, the National Weather service said.

Flying debris is a possibility, and residents in the path of the storms are advised to seek shelter. Mobile homes face the possibility of severe damage, as well as roofs to houses and windows of vehicles.
