Vehicle crashes into Taylor Plaza store

A woman drove a vehicle into the front of the True Value Hardware store on Taylor Plaza on Friday afternoon.

The accident occurred around 2 p.m. when a woman driving a black Buick Lucerne was backing out of a parking spot in front of the hardware store, an officer on the scene said. As the Buick was backing out, a red Ford Explorer pulled in behind the Buick, clipping its left rear end. According to police, the impact from the crash

caused the Ford Explorer to go forward through the glass entrance of the


Sgt. Paul Pauley of the Garden City Police Department said a woman was driving the explorer, and there was a female passenger. Both were transported to St. Catherine Hospital. Pauley wasn't aware of any serious injuries. It's unknown whether the two were wearing a seat belt.

The woman driving the black Buick drove away in it under her own power.

A tow truck arrived around 2:20 p.m. to remove the vehicle from the store.

Full details of the accident, including the names of the drivers and passenger involved, were not available Friday afternoon.
