Beavers win big; Tigers drop high-scoring test vs. Liberal

Scott City 40, Abilene 13

At Scott City, the Scott City Beavers picked up where they left off last year, defeating the visiting Cowboys, 40-13.

Trey O'Neil threw four touchdown passes, two each to Brayden Strine and Chris Pounds, before leaving the game in the third with a knee injury. The status of the injury was still unknown at press time.

Brett Meyer replaced O'Neil and threw a touchdown pass to Pounds.

At Syracuse, the visiting Lakin Broncs overwhelmed Syracuse and ran away with a 38-0 win over the Bulldogs on Friday.

Gage McAtee led the Broncs on the night as he rushed for five of Lakin six touchdowns and received another from Caleb Seeger.

Dexter English led Syracuse with 44 rushing yards.

At Johnson, the visiting Beaver, Okla. team blanked Stanton County 19-0 to spoil the coaching debut of the Trojans' Scott Martin.

SW Heights 41, Sublette 13

At Kismet, the Heights Mustangs scored 27 of their 41 points in the second and third quarters to overpower Sublette 41-13 on Friday.

Efrain Chavez led Southwestern Heights as he rushed 22 times for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Emilio Bernabe also had two touchdowns, one rushing and passed for another after 65-yard pass to Brandon Kisner in the second quarter. Saul Sanchez and Richard Navarette also had rushing touchdowns for the Mustangs.

Wyatt Brown and Brenadn Giesick both had rushing touchdowns for Sublette in the fourth quarter.

At Goodland, the Cowboys outscored Hugoton 35-8 in the second half to come from behind and defeat Hugoton for a 43-24 decision in GWAC play on Friday.

Trey Teeter led Goodland as he completed 10-20 passes for 191 yards and passed for two touchdowns and ran for one more.

Yates Sutton ran for a touchdown and passed for one to lead Hugoton, both coming in the second quarter to lead the Eagles.
