The Garden City Police Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint in the early morning hours of Saturday.

From 1 to 3 a.m. Saturday, officers from the GCPD, with assistance from the Kansas Highway Patrol Breath Alcohol Unit and the Garden City Police Department Citizens' Assist Team, conducted a sobriety checkpoint in the 1500 block of North Taylor Ave.

Officers contacted 18 vehicles, evaluated four drivers and made no arrests involving driving under the influence.

Officers made one arrest for curfew and criminal use of a weapon.

The cost of the checkpoint was covered through the Impaired Driving Deterrence Program grant provided by the Kansas Department of Transportation.
