11-man: Ulysses, Lakin, Sublette, Meade all win big

Ulysses 43, Larned 0

At Larned, the Ulysses Tigers had little trouble scoring against Larned and ran away with a 43-0 win to begin district play on Friday.

Ian Rudzik paced Ulysses as he rushed 17 times for 176 yards and three touchdowns, his longest touchdown run coming from 48 yards out. Zach Romero had a rushing touchdown, and Chase Rudzik rushed for a score and returned an interception for another, the latter coming with three seconds left in the third quarter.

Ulysses will host Pratt next week to continue district play.

Lakin 41, Cimarron 0

At Cimarron, the visiting Broncs stopped the Cimarron Bluejays for a 41-0 shutout victory to open district play on Friday for both teams.

Gage McAtee had another big night for Lakin as he rushed 29 times for 337 yards and scored three of the Broncs six touchdowns, including a 96-yard run early in the fourth quarter. Wyatt Burnett, Caleb Seeger, and Robert Aparicio also had rushing touchdowns for the Broncs in their win.

Cimarron's AJ Cooper completed just seven-of-19 passes for 82 yards and threw two interceptions.

Next week, Lakin will host Holcomb while Cimarron travels to Southwestern Heights to continue district play.

Sublette 28, Syracuse 6

At Sublette, the Larks used a 21-point second quarter to fly past Syracuse 28-6 on Friday for their first win of the season in the opening round of district play.

Brendan Giesick led Sublette as he completed 4-of-8 passes for 147 yards and two touchdowns to Nate Cearley in the second quarter. Wyatt Brown and Brett Blackwood also had rushing touchdowns for Sublette in the first and second quarters, respectively.

Syracuse's lone score came on a 77-yard kickoff return by Cesar Leyva in the second quarter as the Bulldogs managed just 127 rushing yards as a team.

Next week, Sublette's hosts Medicine Lodge in a non-district game as Syracuse visits Stanton County.

Meade 73, Wichita County 18

At Meade, the Buffaloes used a team effort to get an easy 73-18 win over Wichita County on Friday in non-district play.

Meade's Jett Little rushed for three touchdowns, passed for two, and also returned the opening kickoff for the first score of the game to jumpstart the Buffaloes.

Miguel Rogers also had two rushing touchdowns for Meade. Morgan Olvera, Dalton Wiens, and Ryan Friesen all tacked on one rushing touchdown apiece as Meade rushed for 558 yards as a team.

Jantz Budde had both a rushing touchdown and a kickoff return for a touchdown to lead Wichita County, while Colton Northrup also had a rushing touchdown for the Indians in their losing effort.

Next week, Meade travels to Elkhart as Wichita County visits St. Francis to resume district play.
