TODAY, AUG. 31

Garden City Farmer's Market: Featuring a variety of baked goods, home-grown produce, home-crafted items, jewelry and more, 7 a.m. to noon each Saturday in the parking lot of Westlake Hardware, 1210 Fleming St.

Giraffe feedings: Guests of Lee Richardson Zoo will be able to purchase "keeper approved" food and experience a close encounter with a giraffe, 11 a.m. to noon on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer at the zoo.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 3

Musical program: Featuring "The Copeland, Ks. Salem Mennonite Singers," 7:30 p.m. (note time change for this week only) at Garden Valley Retirement Village, 1505 E. Spruce St. The public is encouraged to attend at no charge. For more information, call 275-5036.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 6

Art exhibit: Featuring the mixed media creations of Armando Minjarez, a former student of Garden City Community College who now is an artist and social activist in Wichita. A reception will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 6 in Mercer Gallery at the college, 801 Campus Drive. The show will continue through Oct. 1, with viewing hours of 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Admission is free. Minjarez also will speak at 11 a.m. Sept. 6 and will demonstrate his techniques from 1 to 3 p.m. in the GCCC art lab.

Health Department and WIC

Hours at the Finney County Health Department, 919 Zerr Road, are 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Friday hours are 8 a.m. to noon.

The following events are scheduled at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St., unless otherwise noted. Anyone 55 years of age or older is welcome to participate.

Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers: 5 to 9 p.m. today.

Dominoes and open pool: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

Lunch: Served at noon Tuesday through Friday.

Walking: 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Computer class: 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Gentle exercises: 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Pitch: 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
