TODAY, MAY 25

Giraffe feedings: Guests of Lee Richardson Zoo will be able to purchase "keeper approved" food and experience a close encounter with a giraffe, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer at the zoo.

Vaccination clinic: The Finney County Humane Society's event offering free parvo/distemper vaccinations for dogs, 10 a.m. to noon at the Garden City/Finney County Animal Shelter, 124 N. Fleming St.

Musical program: Garden City Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers performance at 5 p.m. at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St., with a carry-in supper served from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., followed by music until 9 p.m. (bring a favorite covered dish for the meal and sign in to take a turn in the rotation of musicians and singers). Admission is free to the public.

MONDAY, MAY 27

Memorial Day program: 11 a.m. at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. The ceremony will take place at the Veterans Monument, located northwest of the cemetery office. In case of inclement weather, the program will take place at the VFW, 1101 W. Mary St.

TUESDAY, MAY 28

Musical program: Golden-Oldies featuring "The Blue Notes Variety Band"with Ken Degenhardt playing accordion,7 p.m. at Garden Valley Retirement Village, 1505 E. Spruce St. The public is encouraged to attend at no charge. For more information, call 275-5036.

"Schools Out Bash!!!": Garden City Family YMCA's ninth annual free event from 7 to 9 p.m. will feature swimming, games, tattoos, inflatables, crafts and more. Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be provided while they last. For more information, call Krystal Richardson at 275-1199.

FRIDAY, MAY 31

Beef Empire Days: Featuring numerous events and competitions throughout Garden City through June 9, including a children's story hour at 10:30 a.m. at the Finney County Public Library, "The Rock Cow BS Fest" concert at 6:30 p.m. at the Finney County Fairgrounds and the Garden City Municipal Band concert at 7:30 p.m. at Sevens Park, all on May 31. Book Sale: The Friends of the Library's annual sale will feature books and assorted items, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday through June 9 at the Finney County Public Library, 605 E. Walnut St.

SATURDAY, JUNE 1

Hoof It To Health Road Run: 7 a.m. at the Garden City Family YMCA, 1224 Center St. For details, call 275-1199.

Horseshoe tournament: Qualifying begins at 9 a.m. at the horseshoe pits south of the swimming pool in Finnup Park, with all men and women welcome. A $10 entry fee will be collected and prizes will be awarded.

Youth benefit softball tournament: Beginning at noon June 1 and 2 at Peebles and Wiley ball complexes. For entry information, call 276-1200.

Ranch Rodeo: Featuring traditional cowboys demonstrating calf branding, team doctoring and more, 6 p.m. at the Finney County Fairgrounds Arena.

Christian music concert: "Praise in the Park" featuring local praise bands, 7 p.m. at Stevens Park. Free admission.

Concert: Featuring "Born in a Barn" at 9:30 p.m. and "Jared Daniels Band" at 10 p.m. at the Finney County Fairgrounds. A $5 entry fee includes the concert and a meal.

Health Department and WIC

Hours at the Finney County Health Department, 919 Zerr Road, are 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Friday hours are 8 a.m. to noon.
