Cecile Billings to mark 90th with reception

Cecile Billings to mark 90th with reception

A 90th birthday celebration for Cecile M. (Gatlin) Billings is planned from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City.

Hosting the reception will be her four children and their families: Delinda and Thurman Dunagan and Ann and Bill Beaton, all of Scott City; Larry and Donita Billings of Holcomb; and Kenneth and Patti Billings of Colby.

Mrs. Billings grew up in the Friend community and graduated from Garden City High School in 1940. She married Nathan Billings on Jan. 26, 1942. He died Feb. 20, 2001.

Mrs. Billings baked and decorated birthday and wedding cakes for 34 years in the Friend community. She also was a school cook at Friend Elementary School.

Darwin Rundle to celebrate 80th

Darwin "Art" Rundle will celebrate his 80th birthday on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013.

His children invite his friends to participate in a card shower. Birthday cards may be sent to: Darwin Rundle, 1505 E. Spruce St., No. 309E, Garden City, KS 67846.

Mr. Rundle worked at Collins Furniture and Appliance and at Jarmer's Appliance over the past 50 years.

Senior center pinochle

Bob Baker won high in the table of senior center pinochle played Wednesday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St. Second place went to Bob Ellis. Leonard Yardley was third.

Duplicate bridge

The Garden City Duplicate Bridge Club played a 25-board Howell movement July 22, playing just five pairs. Bid and made were two of three slams, 10 suit games and seven in no-trump. New to the club, Janet Jenkins was welcomed and with Irene Bryant won first place with a 65 percent game. Second place went to Jerry Soldner and Gerry Schultz.

Regular games begin at 7 p.m. Monday, 1:15 p.m. Tuesday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St., with all bridge players welcome. For partners, call Jon Kempton at 276-2876.

Betty Harsh won high in the two tables of senior center bridge played Wednesday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St. Betty Nally took second place. Third went to Gwyneth Frack.
