Oscar and Pearl Roberts Rector of Syracuse will celebrate their 80th wedding anniversary Feb. 11, 2014, with a small family gathering.

The Rectors met on a blind date, arranged by her sister, and dated for two years before marrying. They have two daughters, Dixie Akers and the late Judith Kohlhorst; four grandsons; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

The Rectors spent most of their married life farming and helped start a business, Hill Top Lanes bowling alley, in 1961 which still exists today. Upon retiring, they spent 13 years as "snow birds" in Zapata, Texas. They continue to live in their home, which they built, in Syracuse. Their hobbies include reading, working word search puzzles and watching sports of all kinds.
